Why Do We Need Vitamins for Hair Fall?

Folic Acid

This is also a B vitamin and it helps red cell production. It occurs in peas, lentil, papaya, and collard greens.

Vitamin B12

An important contributor towards hair health, Vitamin B12 increases blood circulation. It is better absorbed by the body in the presence of Vitamin C and iron.

Vitamin C

Found in Citrus fruit, Vitamin C promotes the production of collagen, an essential component of hair.

Vitamin D

This vitamin improves hair health along with general body health. It is available in the form of vitamin enriched milk, though the best way to get Vitamin D is through the skin from exposure to sunlight.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is also very good for hair. Many topical hair growth drugs contain this vitamin in concentrated doses.


This is another B vitamin that helps hair growth. It is found in many over the counter hair growth products. However it is not easily absorbed through the skin, so topical applications will not be very effective.

Iron is one of the basic building blocks of the body. It is a major component of the blood cells, and it helps carry oxygen to all parts of the body. Lack of it will cause anemia, which gives rise to a host of other problems, including hair fall.
